Carl R. Barber, 76, passed away Tuesday, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. A life resident of the Syracuse area, he was a Navy Veteran serving from 1955 to 1966. After his service, he was an electrician for the Liverpool Central School District, retiring in 2003.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was always there with a helping hand or just to tell a joke. Carl was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Liverpool. He volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 65, Fathers association. He was also a member of Liverpool Elks Lodge 2348 and the Moose Lodge of Syracuse 625. Active in the masonic community, he was a past master of Liverpool Lodge No. 501 F&AM and was a member of Tigris Shrine, Order of Quetzalcoatl No. 153 and ROJ Ct. 79.
Surviving are his wife, of 57 years, Nancy; son, Keith (Amy) Barber; daughters, Karen Murphy (Don Keller) and Margaret Barber; grandson Killian and granddaughter Erin; sister, Adelaide (Edward) Wilburne; brother, Robert Barber and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday, September 11th, at 10 am at Onondaga County Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with masonic services at 7 pm, at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse.
